The South Bass Island Kayak Rendezvous is a paddler gathering that centers around land based social activities and paddler self-lead kayaking activities:
Timeline/Activities:
- 6 p.m. Friday, June 11: Traditional pot-luck dinner. Bring a dish to share, your appetite and paddling stories. more than 100 kayakers have joined us for this amazing meal. Bring your binoculars because the lead boats for the long-stanting Mills Race sailboat race begin to cross in front of the island near dusk.
- 10 a.m. Sat., June 12: Traditoinal paddler beach meeting time at the State Park beach. Group usually meets and paddles into the Put-in-Bay Harbor as a group and then departs for longer day paddles by experience, interests and skill levle. Paddlers interested in paddling the islands can connect with other paddlers
- 6:30 p.m. Sat. June 12, Dinner: Meals this evening are at your liesure, cook at the campground or join up with paddlers in downtown Put-In-Bay for dinner. Stretch your legs by waking, grab a taxi or shuttle with new friends.
- 6:30 p.m. Sat., June 12, Dinner II: Paddler Deb Delorenzo is is leading a group to dinner at "The Goat" a fine restaurant near the State Park. Deb has contacted the restaurant owner and would love to see a group of kayakers in his establishment.
- Dusk, Sat, June 12, Smore Burn and desert Pot-Luck at site #126. Eric Slough will bring the fixings for smores, bring a stick and a desert to pass. Bring your chairs for an evening campfire and gooey deserts.
- 8:30 a.m., Sun., June 13: Paddle to Put-in-Bay for Breakfast. Meet at the beach for a fun morning paddle to breakfast at Frosty's Bar, the best breakfast on the island.
Campground Amenities
- 11 full service sites with electric, water and sewer hook-ups.
- Campground offers flush toilets, showers, and a dump station.
- Pet camping is permitted on designated sites.
- Picnic areas, launch ramp, fishing pier and small stone beach area are also available
